Lining the coast in the village of Llanddulas is Llanddulas Beach. The beach stretches far and eventually connects with Colwyn Bay to the west. It is popular for being part of the North Wales Coastal Cycleway and has opportunities for cycling and walking.
It won a Green Coast Award, being prized for its unspoiled environment and excellent natural qualities. Although it has an understated appearance, it is the ideal place to wade in the water, relax, and go for a bike ride if you’ve got a hankering for activity.

Above the village is Cefn-yr-Ogof, a limestone hill with a height of 670 feet. Along with Rhyd y Foel, the village has a combined population of just under 1600. There are also a few caravan sites, including The Beach Caravan Park. My stay there was peaceful and comfortable, and the caravans were fitted with modern furnishings. The beach was right at my doorstep, and I was able to look out at the Irish Sea every morning.
Once I settled in, I walked over from the caravan site to the Village Chippy for some mushy peas, fish and chips and curry sauce before settling down on the beach with a blanket. There is also a convenience store and a pub nearby if either of those are more of what you are looking for. To the immediate east and west are Colwyn Bay and Abergele, which both have historical sites, castles, and landmarks. Just 15 minutes northeast is Victorian seaside town Llandudno, home to the Great Orme and Little Orme.
Llanddulas Beach is also situated in a prime location on the Welsh north coast, whether you’re looking to use this location as your base or want to travel on to one of the famous sites in the vicinity.
Is Llanddulas Beach Sandy?
The beach is made up of scattered paths of sand and pebbles, so visitors can get the best of both worlds. There are many rock pools dotted around the beach that are perfect for discovery and sandy sections for sunbathing.
Are Dogs Allowed On Llanddulas Beach?
Llanddulas Beach, as well as the caravan sites, are all dog friendly so don’t worry about nagging family members about dog-sitting!
Facilities at the Beach
Other than the caravan parks for those who are looking for an extended stay, the beach features parking spaces, toilets, and a picnic site. Part of the appeal of the beach is its wild, untouched quality.
