Llanfairfechan Beach has plenty to boast about. Being awarded a Blue Flag in 2021 and the Keep Britain Tidy’s Seaside Award, there’s no question that the beach has pristine, top-tier sand and water.
While beachgoers enjoy the promenade and many opportunities for swimming, fishing, and water sports, they can marvel at views of the Great Orme, the island of Anglesey, and the Menai Strait. It is a popular place for families and young children, anglers, and birdwatchers further down the coast.
It is located in the Victorian seaside town of Llanfairfechan, a charming holiday destination with arts and crafts spaces, multicoloured houses, and a whole lot of natural beauty. Towering over it is the spectacular Penmaenmawr Mountain, known for its coastal walks and distinct flat top. Nearby is the Snowdonia National Park, the largest national park in Wales.

Is Llanfairfechan Beach Sandy?
My personal favourite and most interesting aspect of Llanfairfechan Beach is its mix of pebble and sand beach. It is mainly composed of pebbles when the tide is in but reveals a wide stretch of sand at low tide.
Is Llanfairfechan Dog Friendly?
The beach is ideal for dog owners like myself, as there is plenty of space for dogs to run around and play. However, dogs are not allowed between the two slipways that span from the promenade to the Low Water Mark from the 1st of May to the 30th of September.

Tide Times
Although tide times can change and differ from day to day, there are generally high tides in the early hours of the morning between 1:30 am and 6:00 am and in the afternoon between 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm. Low tides can happen in the morning between 8:00 am and 11:00 am and late at night between 6:30 pm and 12:00 am. However, it’s best to look up the more accurate tide forecast for the day and time you’ll be visiting the beach and use that as a rule of thumb.
